Located in the center of the city of Korça and one of the favorite spots for locals and foreign tourists. The "Resurrection of Christ" cathedral was built in 1992 by the Orthodox Church, it belongs to the Orthodox faith and in terms of its size, and it is considered the largest in Albania. It was projected by the architect Dhimitër Kristidhi and the funds for its construction were provided by Archbishop Anastas, who at the time declared: "When they throw stones at us, we gather them to build." The "Resurrection of Christ" cathedral symbolizes the return of religious practices in a country where since 1967 all religions were banned by the communist regime. Where we see the cathedral today, stood the cathedral of "St. George", a cathedral of great historical and cultural importance, which was destroyed during the anti-religious campaigns undertaken in 1968. What is immediately noticeable in the "Resurrection of Christ" cathedral, is the presence of the iconostasis carved in wood. Structure The "Resurrection of Christ" cathedral is built of concrete and in the shape of a cross. It has four apses, a central dome and two high bell towers in the western corners, is surrounded by a porch and occupies an area of ​​1800 square meters. From the outside, the cathedral is covered with decorative stones and bricks; the dome and the roof are covered with unique tiles of their kind due to the low temperatures, while the floor is paved with marble. The underground floor (970 m2) has space designed for baptisms, chapel and meeting hall.
